My name is Shannon, and for the last 6 years I have had my dream job of running a local movie theater. I am also lucky to have found the love of my life 14 years ago. He is currently caring for his father full time, who is on hospice care. We live together with our two cats, our babies. Our 12 year old cat, Loki, became very ill recently. She couldn't keep anything down and lost a tremendous amount of weight, she had been a bit chonky. We brought her to her regular vet and she told us we had to bring her to a hospital right away or discuss euthanasia. Loki is a ray of sunshine in this world that we cannot get by without. We ran her to the hospital (last Wed. 2/19). She needed to have her gallbladder removed as it had calcified to the point that they showed it to me on an x-ray. Since she is older, her recovery has been slow, she built up some fluid in her chest. She has needed oxygen, a feeding tube, a blood transfusion, and an ekg so far. She also has IBS. They started her on a steroid for the IBS today and she ate a little on her own for the first time this morning. We have been meeting after work and driving 40 minutes every day to visit her for as long as they'll let us, which is never enough. This situation has drained our little savings and maxed out our credit cards. We're near the point where I don't know what we'll do if they need more money to save her. She's fighting, poor baby, and we can't give up on her. We have spent $18,500.00 on her care at Garden State Veterinary Specialist in Eatontown, N.J. if you could help with any assistance at all it would be most appreciated. Help bring Loki home to us, the apartment is too quiet.
