Tragically, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, Carrie (Terry’s mother) came home from work and found Terry unresponsive. Due to the heroic measures of rescue personnel in the field and at the hospital, they were able to get his heart and body working again. Sadly, the toll of diabetes combined with the ravages from the flu, had left him to weak and dehydrated, even after a recent stint in the hospital to battle on.
After three days on life support at Mercy Medical center in Redding, it was determined by Doctors that though the body was functioning with help, the soul and the person that was Terry was no longer with us. We had already lost that stubborn, quirky, fiercely loyal, friend and family member.
We will miss his childlike exuberance, and the joy he seemed to attack new things and learning with. Though he suffered mightily from being a brittle diabetic, he never complained, was never bitter, and he remained happy and content with his lot in life. He loved and cherished his family and friends, and the iconic images of Terry in his hat and duster will remain with us forever.
Though we have lost a son, brother, grandson, nephew, and especially a kind and supportive friend, we know that with other family members already gone, he will wait for us with open arms. He has started his next journey, and with eager anticipation I know he will be waiting to welcome us and show us around when our time comes.
Life is sometimes hard, battles are not always won, and with the loses also come financial burdens in the realities of life. Those that would like to contribute to this fund to help with Terrys final arrangements, and costs associated with his care, and they would be greatly appreciated.
