REACHING OUT FOR YOUR HELP !

Kobi, our 6 year old Kelpie X Koolie, was taken to the after hours vet last night after becoming non responsive after a trip to the park. He was vomiting and losing a lot of fluids. He couldn't walk, wasn't responding to his name or any else and was extremely lethargic. He wasn't interested in food, water came back up after a few minutes and he had no interest in toys or giving kisses (anyone who knows Kobi, knows that just ISN'T like him).

Kobi presented with signs of shock and rectal bleeding. Upon further investigation over the last 16 hours, the vets have discovered his Glucose levels are low, he has trouble clotting his own blood (which can be due to rat bait), snake bite, systemic inflammation or liver disease. Further blood tests revealed an elevation in Kidney levels which could also be due to a number of things and fluid in the bowel. The vets have told us that his symptoms don't point to just one thing and have started quite a serious investigation with a specialist. A comprehensive ultrasound, more blood tests and a number of others.
His blood pressure has been fluctuating with his heart rate dropping to 40bpm through the night. Our vets are doing everything they can but have been open in saying that this is an unusual case and they have concerns, if we had stayed home, Kobi wouldn't be with us now.

This dog is more then family to us. He has been there in times where no one else and he has saved my life and defended us on numerous occasions. He is the kind of dog who doesn't let anything stop him, so we know he desperately needs our help. His spirit has inspired me to keep going through my battles with mental illness. He has achieved so much from winning sled dog races to being in an Ezy dog campaign and also learning assistance dog tasks, he gives his heart to everything he does and he loves to love more then anything in the world, we can't imagine our lives without him. It's so difficult to even bring myself to write this.

We are leaning in to the universe and reaching out for your help with donations and prayers as we are already currently paying off vetpay and other debts, i am personally on a disability pension and the costs seem to be getting higher and higher just to get a diagnosis and to stabilize him. So far our bill is at $3500 and is set to rise another $3500+ with the ongoing tests over the next couple of days, anti venom and overnight care, especially at this time of the week being the weekend and things slow down a bit.

We are laying our vulnerability on the line and asking for a miracle for our boy. He has given us so much in his short life, we are doing everything we can to give back to him and bring him home!  I am happy to offer original art or resin homewares in exchange for donations and to show our immense gratitude.

We have been overwhelmed by your help and support already and cannot THANK YOU enough for your donations and messages of support for his recovery. This community has truly warmed our hearts and it has already been such a huge help for Kobi's ongoing tests with the specialist today.

Any amount helps, even if it's $1 it all adds up and we are beyond grateful for anything you can spare <3
