Tim King Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Tim King wasn’t like anybody else. Tim King was a beautiful, compassionate soul who ran hard on coffee, motorcycles, and service to others. Injustice never sat well with him. He dedicated most of his life to  the journalistic arts, to bring truth justice and peace to people he would never know. Our father wrote about the Sri Lankan Tamil people’s genocide, bringing international attention to their suffering. He broke the story nation-wide when the Standing Rock protest stopped the pipeline through North Dakota. He was a marine. He went to Iraq and Afghanistan as a civilian journalist in order to do his journalistic duty. He created a documentary for OPB, “Fallen Fortress at Cape Lookout”, won multiple awards for journalistic excellence in Las Vegas, and had several long-term projects brewing. He founded Salem-news.com, Salem Ghost Tours, and authored multiple popular books. He was in a motorcycle accident on September 29, 2020. After several days of struggle, we made the necessary decision to let him pass on to the next big thing. This memorial fund is now dedicated to the continuance of our father’s work,  and to memorialize his legacy. He did not have life insurance, and costs have already exceeded $11,000. He has a beautiful plot at Belcrest cemetery in Salem, where he can be visited anytime. We would like to put in a King family bench near his plot, as well as a bench of his to visit in Downtown Salem, and in Lincoln City as well. We want to fund his projects over time, so we have the ability to complete them in his name. Many people are left waiting for his visit or phone call in regard to their story he was helping with. He was taken from us so suddenly, it’s been extremely difficult to be effective campaigners at this time, but we want to do everything we can to  work through the pain and continue our beloved father’s legacy of helping others. If anyone came to my dad because someone needed help, he would be up and ready to help, because that’s who he was. Whatever this campaign achieves, much of it will go toward helping the voiceless to have a voice, helping refugees not to starve, and anything else that our Dad would want to do in order to help ease the suffering of others. Honor Tim by helping someone and cherish the life you have been given. Ride safe! Thank you. Austin King
