Please help Sue in her battle with Cancer

Donation protected
This July Sue (46 yrs) was diagnosed with a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST).   A GIST (pronounced “jist”) is a type of tumor that occurs in the gastrointestinal tract.  Some grow slow and others are more aggressive.  Her tumor is presently 2cm and malignant (CANCER).  It's a very rare cancer, only affecting 4000 to 6000 adults in the United States each year

In early 2019 she started feeling sick and weak and thought it was due to her fibromyalgia. In May of 2020 she was rushed to the hospital. The Doctors discovered that she actually had liver failure and needed to be put on a respirator to keep here alive. Over the next few weeks the doctors did not think that she would live through this ordeal. She was hospitalized for 2 months and ended up losing the ability to walk and had to be transferred to a rehab center to learn how to walk and use her arms again.
It was not until her last day in the hospital when she received the life changing news that she had cancer.

PROGNOSIS  (How bad is it?)
Finding the tumor was the good news.  This disease was once nearly impossible to cure before newer treatments were developed.  If properly treated the 5 year survival rate is good for this type of cancer..

GISTs are not typically treated the same way as most cancers.  Surgery is a possibility but the tumor's growth has to be arrested and ideally shrink before surgery is a viable option.  The medicine to shrink the tumor is insanely expensive.

THE NEED  (The obstacle!)
The direct out of pocket cost (not covered by insurance) of the specific medicine needed to shrink the tumor is overwhelming.

The entire cancer protocol (treatment) will consist of medicine and surgery followed by more medicine.   Frankly Sue can't afford to fund the fight without help.

WHO IS SUE
Sue is 46 years old female and a 1992 graduate of William Tennent High School in Warminster Pa, and a 1992 graduate of Middle Bucks Vo-Tech.

She is the mother of a 16 year old son Colin, a 25 year old daughter Alyssa, a grandson Ryder and a granddaughter on the way. Survival for this reason alone is worth the fight at any cost.

Sue is a hard working, responsible,  young woman. Asking for help is foreign to her..  She is proud and  has always been the one trying to help others.  Taking or not taking the medication to shrink the tumor should not be decided based on whether she can afford it.

HOW TO HELP
If Sue takes the medicine the tumor will shrink and then surgery may becomes possible.

We are respectfully asking you to consider helping us raise the funds to cover her medicines, tests, doctor & transportation costs.

"No matter what happens I have lived a great life and wouldn't change a thing".
Lets come together and help her anyway we can. She needs to continue treatment and the clock won't stop while we think about it!

We are telling you her story because she needs your help. If you can make a donation to help her, we will forever be grateful. If you cannot donate, please share her story, or share stories with us about people who challenge traditional boundaries in the fight against cost.

We are fully aware that these are precarious times; please do not feel any obligation to donate as we do not want to add stress to anyone else.  This is the hardest place she has ever been in and WHEN she is back on her feet again you can trust that she will pay all of this love, kindness and generosity FORWARD to someone else in need!"

Thank you from the bottom of our heart.
