About 7 years ago Stacy was diagnosed with Hodgekins lymphoma. It took Stacy almost two years to beat it, and she did!
The chemo the Dr.’s gave her had a side effect they failed to tell us about. One of the side effects was this chemo could bring on the onset of Leukemia. And it did just that.
Stacy made a monumental accomplishment of being over 5 years in remission. Stacy made an appointment with her oncologist here in Florida and had her port taken out. We were celebrating. We were so excited as we were thinking we kicked cancer’s ass. That nasty monster. My sister beat it.
Our celebration came to a screeching hault.
It was nearly 5 months after having her port removed my sister was coming down with pain in her legs, and unexplained rashes. After several misdiagnosis the Dr.’s gave us the heart wrenching news we’d never thought we’d hear again. Stacy has cancer! Not just cancer, but Leukemia. OMG! My heart sank. Fear set in, then anger, now it’s pure hate and a desire to kick Leukemia’s ass!!!
Here we go again! Imagine hearing the Dr. tell you that you have this cancer because of the chemo the previous Dr. gave you. Stacy already had the dominant gene in her DNA, and her Dr. told us she would have been an easier fight if her dominant gene brought on this Leukemia. Unfortunately, because this is a direct result from a previous chemo treatment this makes this fight the fight of her life.
We’ve already lost our mom to breast cancer at the young age of 49. We just lost our father almost 4 years ago. I’m begging anyone with the ability to make even the smallest contribution to please donate.
Stacy is ready for this battle and she will undergo a bone marrow transplant September 11, 2018. I was blessed to be chosen to be her donor. Please let’s show Stacy how much she means to us. Let’s show her how much we love her.
