Please Help Shelby and Her Family

Donation protected
Hello friends and family,
If you know James and Rachele, you know their beloved black lab Shelby. Shelby fell critically ill recently and they would greatly appreciate your help to continue her care. A note from James and Rachele: Friday morning we found Shelby unresponsive and rushed her to the nearest veterinary hospital. She required lifesaving treatment to get her stabilized. She was immediately admitted and placed in the ICU with a 1-1 nurse. She fought through the night and we now have some answers. Shelby has been diagnosed with Addison’s disease, HGE, and is fighting off sepsis. She is slowly improving with the wonderful care she’s receiving. Shelby is continuing to fight and we refuse to give up on her. Her ICU care is incredibly expensive and she is expected to be hospitalized for up to a week. If you can help us in any way we’d greatly appreciate it. Our baby girl is our world and the most important thing to us. Thank you for supporting us, please know that any and all donations, love, and prayers mean the world to us and Shelby.
UPDATE***
Shelby update today 12:30pm:
We just got back from visiting our girl. She is still a level 5 in the ICU and in critical care but she has made SO much progress! She is receiving even more food through her nasogastric tube since she’s been tolerating it so well. She hasn’t had any regurgitation. Her eyes opened when we started petting and talking to her. They’re not fixating and her vet said she probably can’t see anything right now because of everything she went through. There is a possibility that she could be blind however sight is also the last thing to return in cases like hers so only time will tell. They have been consistently and slowly reducing her anti seizure/sedation meds and she hasn’t had any breakthrough seizures which is huge! Hopefully she can get off of them completely in the next 24 hours or so as long as she doesn’t start having seizures again. So we don’t know if she’ll be epileptic or not, again only time will tell with how she does coming off of the meds now. She’s off of her plasma drip now. She’s starting to receive less fluids so that they can just give her the amount she needs to maintain rather than over hydrating her since she’s been peeing alot. Her blood work and electrolytes are all great levels and steady! She’s swallowing more which is a good sign. Our girl was lifting her head this morning and even tried to sit up! She’s very responsive to touch and stimuli. Her doctor was thrilled with her progress and kept talking about Shelby in the future tense. She said she is very confident Shelby will be going home. Bottom line: our girl is on the mend and will survive this! We just aren’t sure as to what the long term effects will be, but we appreciate all of the support as she remains hospitalized. Thank you to everyone who has helped make these services possible!!
