Please help save our unicorn Rebel

On the morning of Wednesday August 16th our sweet friend and lesson horse Rebel was found suffering from severe colic. Our amazing veterinarian did all she could do onsite before referring him to West Coast Equine Hospital for urgent treatment. Upon examination the attending vet determined that colic surgery was necessary and would be at an estimated cost of $7,000-$9,000 dollars excluding aftercare. This presents a huge roadblock for us as the funds for something of this magnitude are not available. Please take some time to get to know Rebel through our experience and the experience of others whose lives he has touched.
Rebel came to us as a horse who others never imagined would end up as a bombproof kids horse, teacher and friend. He has helped children who are wheelchair bound find their wings so they could fly, he has helped people with PTSD, anxiety disorders and those who were terrified of animals to find comfort in his patient and kind nature, he has tought some how to be coboys and cowgirls for a day and he has been a friend to others who have found it difficult to find friends in the outside world. He has been a unicorn to little girls and a trusty steed to boys who had big dreams of chasing cows and riding the range. He has always been a tough, strong horse who now needs us more than ever. We are hoping that those who read this will find it in their hearts to help us fund his surgery in an effort to save his life. While we know nothing is guaranteed and sometimes these things dont end up as we pray they will, we have to at least try for him like he has so honestly tried for all of us who know and love him. Every dollar helps and even if you cant donate we would be forever grateful if everyone could share this with every single person they know. if we are unable to raise enough for his surgery we will continue to do all that can be can done and cover any of his bills with what has been donated..
