Please help save our House and Keep the Lights on

Hello, my name is David I Edens and I'm here, hat in hand, to raise money to catch my family's mortgage payments and help pay utilities and other necessities. I am a husband and father to three children. For the last 10 months, I have been out of work due to covid induced congestive heart failure.

Ok, y'all here's the back story. On February 23, 2020, I was hospitalized for what turned out to be covid induced pneumonia and congestive heart failure. This was the start of a long-term financial struggle that is currently moving into its 3rd year that has twice now put me out of work for more than 6 months; first in 2020 and then last year when I again contracted covid that February and by March had conclusive evidence that Covid was causing my heart to enlarge and putting me into congestive heart failure again. Between the two Covid infections, I exhausted the vast majority of options to pay both my mortgage and other bills as well as my temporary disability options. While I am not currently unemployed the nature of my job means my doctor will not clear me to return to work until my heart has healed more. Added to this is that lingering long covid symptoms from both infections have greatly slowed my recovery the second time around.

The primary purpose of this fundraiser is to catch up and continue to pay our mortgage and if possible also put money on the electric bill, internet for my children's school, and our cell phone bills. If the fundraiser is successful then some money would then be available for toiletries and incidentals like light bulbs and small household repairs as needed. Our mortgage is 610 a month and we are currently 6 payments behind. Between power, water, and gas our utility averages between 300 and 400 a month. We have SNAP currently and were just approved for Medicaid but neither of these programs covers things like cat food, laundry soap or cat food so we need help continuing to cover those costs as well.

It's very important to my family that we can maintain some level so stability and not have to continue worrying about if we are going to lose our home or if the light will be off for some time while I beg friends and family for money to turn it back on. In the current economy with rising inflation and supply shortages, there is already far too much uncertainty in my children's lives that I can't do anything about, and while my pride makes it very hard to come out and publicly ask for help, I will do whatever I have to for my family.
