<div>I am creating this fundraiser for a good friend who doesn’t feel right asking for help. Her family needed help in 2021, so she felt like she shouldn’t ask for help now. So i am asking for the help for her.

<div>Sandy DiVa and her family are facing eviction again, but this time, there is no rental assistance program. There is no other help to keep the landlord from filing with the court. 
</div>

<div>On December 21, 2023, they received a letter from the Philadelphia Eviction Diversion Program. Once filed with the program, the tenant has 30 days to come to an agreement with the landlord. He filed on 12/19 so on January 19th, in just a couple days, the landlord is able to file with the court. Once he files, its almost a guarantee that eviction will be enforced.

<div>Rent prices in their neighborhood are $400+ what they are paying. They do not have the money to move and even if they did, they could not afford the new rent prices. If they were to be evicted, they would have no where to go. Their family would have to break up. Its much easier to stay in an apartment than find a new one once evicted. If you can help at all, please consider helping them.

<div>They got into this situation when her spouse was out of work for 6 months in 2023, after their car was totaled and he had a health problem (now resolved). This led to them falling behind in the rent (and every other necessity bill). Her nearing retirement age spouse is now working 2 jobs which covers current rent, but its not enough to catch up on the back rent that has led them to being in the eviction process. As for Sandy, she has tried everything to earn an income from bed. She has been trying to win SSDI/SSI since 2016 but has repeatedly been denied. She created a youtube channel, merch shop, and kofi which has helped with basic necessities over the past year, but it isn’t enough to help them get ahead with the back owed rent. In addition to their bills, they are also helping to support her stepson in college.
