Please help Rayel and Edwin on their IVF journey

My little sister Rayel is my best friend. I love her more than I could ever express. We spend more time together than any pair of siblings I have ever met or known. We work together. We’ve lived together (now she lives a few minutes away from my house). We hang out in the evenings and weekends. Some people ask, “Don’t you get sick of each other?” And our response is always “No way, sometimes we wonder how we can spend even more time together!” and then laugh.

I love my sister so much. My sister's name is Rayel and she has been with my brother-in-law Edwin for 13 years. They are both amazing. They are the best Aunt and Uncle to my children. You should see my kid’s faces light up when they get to see these 2 amazing souls and spend time with them.

Rayel and Edwin deserve the world. And that includes a chance at carrying a healthy baby. The chance to share their great souls with their own children one day. Because they would be the best parents.

Getting them that chance is my goal.

My sister has suffered through multiple miscarriages along the way. Rayel became pregnant a couple of years ago and it was discovered that it was an ectopic pregnancy. To her devastation, 1 of her 2 tubes had to be removed.

The one-tube removal was traumatic for her. But we didn’t give up faith because she had another tube to try and become pregnant.

Rayel and Edwin did seek guidance from the Heartland Fertility clinic in Winnipeg. They let her know that the chances of becoming pregnant with one tube left are still great. So that left her with hope. She eventually had surgery to help her repair her remaining tube and remove scar tissue to increase the chance of a successful pregnancy.

A couple of weeks ago Rayel was too familiar with the pain she was beginning to feel. Rayel discovered she was pregnant, and was admitted into the hospital due to the severe pain she was having. It was confirmed that once again she was having another ectopic pregnancy in her last tube.

Not only that, the Doctor found multiple tumours on her liver and mentioned the word cancer. The only reason they found those tumours was because they were performing an ultrasound on her remaining fallopian tube.

Rayel has been waiting for an MRI which was labelled as urgent to find out what is happening. It’s been 2 weeks with no date set for the MRI to take place. Imagine the stress of that. Not knowing. So not only is Rayel going through another miscarriage, but she’s been in fear of what the results will be for her MRI.

Today, December 29th, Rayel will go into emergency surgery in the afternoon to remove her final tube as it has now ruptured. Rayel is in a great deal of pain physically, but also emotionally. She feels like her hopes and dreams of becoming a Mother one day are over.

And I will not let that happen. I promised her I would do anything and everything for her dreams to come true.

Rayel is 30 years young with a great egg count. We know she’s able to get pregnant but the pregnancies could not carry past her tubes. There is still hope for her.

Please join me in being a support system for my little sister and brother-in-law. I want them to be able to have the option of IVF.

If any one of you knows Rayel, you know what kind of woman she is. Rayel is selfless. She wears her heart on her sleeve. She loves to make the people around her feel welcome. She loves to laugh. She stands up for people.

Please pray for Rayel and Edwin. This is a tough journey. Pray for Rayel's surgery to be safe. Pray for her MRI appointment to come quickly and for the results to be normal. Pray for their mental and physical health. Pray for healing. Pray for their future.

Miigwetch. Wopida. Thank you.

Rayel recently shared these words:

To my little BB I lost. I’m sorry my body was not well enough to keep you but you showing up and not being able to succeed was the only reason we were able to find these tumours and you may have possibly saved my life. I’ll always remember this sacrifice. My little guardian angel. One day we will have a family. No matter which options we are left with ❤️
