Please help our family stay together again

My name is Hugo Medeiros, and I am a Postdoctoral Fellow with Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. For the last six months I’ve been working with a team of researchers to answer important questions related to conservation and sustainable forest management in Nova Scotia, and I love it here. I had just sold my car to bring my three dogs safely to Canada in October, and was getting ready to finally have my wife join me again this November. Then I ran into some problems.
I was born in Brazil, and am not a Canadian citizen. Consequently, I needed a visa to work in Canada, and wanting to make sure I was doing things correctly, I paid an immigration consultant to help me with visa application before I came here. However, this consultant gave me some bad information, and now I must return to Brazil to redo the application process. The visa processing time is around 2 months, and during this time, I can’t receive my Postdoctoral Fellow salary. Without a salary, I can’t afford to do everything I need to do.
While I can’t be paid, my supervisor and funding agency are able to put my position on hold while I deal with my visa reapplication. But at this point, I am very concerned about my dogs because I don’t have money to bring them back to Brazil with me – nor would that extra stress be good for the dogs. I must leave Canada by December 20th, and so I’m asking for your help.
Specifically, I need help to pay a sitter or a kennel for my dogs ($2,700 for 2 months), an immigration lawyer ($2,000) and a flight to Brazil one way ($1,200).
Please help my family to achieve our dream of living together again in Nova Scotia, by making even a small donation to my GoFundMe campaign. Every little bit is appreciated!
Sincerely,
