Please help us with our vet bills!

Soot and Sophie are our two sweet little rescue cats whom we love very much. We found Soot about a year ago as a stray. He is around 4 years old and is the most gentle mama's boy in the world. Sophie is a 4 month old kitten who we adopted about a month ago. She's a wild one but is so loving.

In October, Soot kept having accidents outside of his litter box that occurred for a few weeks. We were worried he had a UTI and brought him to the vet. The vet bill came out to $472.10 which included the exam fee, a urinalysis/culture, cystocentesis, a blood panel, x-ray, and medication. It was pricey, but we just wanted to make sure he was okay knowing that UTIs could be potentially fatal for cats. With medication and following all of our vet's recommendations, he eventually got better.

Roughly a week after we adopted Sophie, Soot became sick again. It started with vomiting after he ate, then he began to have diarrhea and refused to drink or eat anything for a whole week. He was rapidly losing weight, and we had to take him in to the vet twice within that week. The vet bills from both visits added up to $821.06 for medications, multiple tests, x-ray, and treatments. We were desperate for him to just be alright.

Not even a full week after that, Sophie's eye started watering. We thought maybe something got into her eye and that it would resolve on its own, but it progressively got worse and within two days her eye became swollen shut. We tried a simple home remedy with saline, but it didn't help so we had no choice but to make another trip to the vet. They did a test to see if her cornea had been scratched to determine if the swelling was caused by trauma or infection, and we were sent home with medication for her eye. The bill came out to 145.33 -- not nearly as expensive as all of our other visits, but definitely adds to the cost.

We just can't believe how all of this happened almost all at once. It was a nightmare for us as pet parents. We love our cats so much.  Soot and Sophie bring so much happiness and laughter to our lives. They really are like little people and are so sensitive to how we feel. Our fur babies are recovering and doing much better now, but the total sum of our vet bills is $1438.49 and it has burned a deep hole in our pockets that will take us awhile to recover from financially. We are not asking for the full amount, but need $1000 to help us pay this off and still stay on top of the rest of our bills. We'd be so grateful for any help you can give. If you can't donate, we would appreciate if you shared this with others. Thank you so much.
