Please meet Emerson. He runs a kindergarten for orphans, disabled children, and those who are the poorest of the poor in Tanzania. His school is run completely on donations. These children come from homes where one or more parent has died from chronic illness, AIDS, or were orphaned when they were young. In Tanzania, there is a tuition to be able to attend school. Most families in rural Tanzania cannot afford to send their children to any kind of school.
Emerson teaches the children basic math, reading, writing, and English. He runs his school out of a rented building. His dream is to have a building of his own on his own land to run his school. Every month he has to pay $150 to rent the building. It will cost about $26, 000 for him to buy land and begin to build.
Emerson also does home visits, to check on the welfare of the family. In addition, he does after school outreach at the local public schools to help with tutoring and homework. This is because the public schools have up to 200 students per teacher in a class, making it very difficult for learning. He does frequent visits to surrounding villages to check on the elderly, sick, and provide basic medical care.
Many girls in Tanzania marry very young due to the lack of education and any vocational skills. Emerson attempts to held these girls learn empowerment, like skills, and how to be independent.
The money donated will go towards the buying of land and construction of a building. It will also go to to buying school supplies, books, and food, as most children only have one meal of rice and fish a day. Basic medical supplies are needed to help the local villagers.
Please help, support Emerson's hard work and deep dedication to his passion in life -- the growth of children and the quality of life.
Thank you and many blessings to you!
