Please Help Newton With Leg Surgery

Donation protected
I'm Newton, and today, August 15th, is my 6th birthday! My forever mommy found me on Craigslist when I was a puppy. I was the runt of the litter and nobody wanted me. I was separated from my birth mother and all my brothers and sisters had been adopted. Nobody wanted me because I had a limp leg. I was very sad and lonely and covered in mud. Then, this lady showed up and looked down at me and her eyes grew so wide. She picked me up and didn't even care how dirty I was! She wanted to be my mommy, even though my leg didn't work very well. She took me to the vet and they told her I had a bone deformity in my leg. The vet said it would't really affect me or get any worse. They said I would just walk with a limp the rest of my life--and guess what?! I don't mind having a limp because everyone who loves me thinks it's cute!

I've had such a good life since being adopted! I have two amazing mommies and a brother named Charlie! However, when I turned two I started having chronic seizures, which is commonly genetic in dachshunds like me. My moms stood by my side and spent a lot of money for all my neurologist visits and epilepsy medications. Although I now have brain damage, that doesn't stop me from enjoying my life! I just act like a puppy always, which isn't a bad thing at all if you ask me or my family. I love to be playful and cuddle under blankets with the people I love.

I recently went for a checkup and got a physical exam. The vet discovered that my limp leg had caused a tendon to rip. It's really uncomfortable and it makes me not want to walk. Now I'm starting to gain weight and the vet said that will make me develop arthritis in my joints which will eventually cause me to stop walking completely!

Now that my seizures are under control and my brain is stabilized, I just want to play and run around with my brother Charlie! My mommies are so upset and feel terrible because they are struggling with all my vet bills. They love me and just want me to live a happy life. I know they will NEVER give up on me. They never have.

Anything you can do to help me is so greatly appreciated!

                                                                    Love,
                                                                    Newton
                                                                    (and his family)

Newton needs an estimated $1,500 for a CT scan and an additional estimated $8,500 for surgery, hospital time, checkups, and rehabilitation.
