<div>UPDATE: I had a trip to the ER due to complications from my surgery, or so I thought. It resulted in a diagnosis of lung cancer, which has traveled through my bloodstream and into my hip and one of my ribs. It has eaten away at both. There is also a very small lesion on my brain. It feels like trying to function with broken or dislocated bones and joints. At this point, there is no timetable for when, or if, I will be able to return to work.

<div>I am very grateful for all the donations I have received so far but my path to healing is going to be a much longer, tougher road than the three weeks I had initially thought back in May. Now that I have started my treatments, I may be able to qualify for some grants and assistance programs but they will take some time to process and receive. I need all the help I can get right now. I thank you all so much. The support I have been shown just fuels my burning desire to fight like hell.

<div>I'm not very good at asking for help. In fact, I feel guilty for even asking, knowing there are people out there enduring much greater hardships.

<div>I am having surgery on May, 31. I will be out of work for probably a minimum of a month. When I do go back, it will probably only be part time for a while. I have had to take a lot of time off work for doctor appointments also. My temporary disability won't start until 2 weeks after the surgery and then it's only 60% of my wages. None of my bills are taking a medical leave with me. I have depleted my paid time off and any reserve money I may have had. It is one more thing that has been stressing me out on top of the pain I have been dealing with since last October.
