Please Help My Mom Get the Surgery She Needs

Donation protected
Please help my mom who needs uncovered medical care and uncovered surgery by an expert for her deep infiltrating stage 4 endometriosis. Many physicians and the public think Endometriosis can be cured with a hysterectomy and that is not true. Endometriosis can occur after a hysterectomy for women, including my mom. The reason as to why this is the case is not fully understood by the medical community. Endometriosis must be excised out (cut). It takes a very skilled surgeon that specializes in this alone, not one who is a regular OBGYN. For many women, including my mom, this is a surgery that has to be done over and over every so many years because it always grows back and has to be removed all over again. This incurable disease involves separating organs that are stuck together. They have to be carefully unstuck by meticulously cutting the endometriosis and adhesions to separate such major organs such as bladder, bowels, lungs, ureter tubes, etc. Endometriosis that’s deep infiltrating into the tissues of the pelvic, abdominal, organs, etc. is very difficult to deal with surgery after surgery. It’s like trying to cut roots out of the ground and you can’t get or see them all as some are invisible to the naked eye.

Please help us get her the medical care see needs to give her quality of life back. Severe stage 4 endometriosis can be life threatening  and altering if left alone.  A friend of my mom's, who has the same severity of endometriosis, had to get one of her kidneys removed because the disease completely covered the kidney. My mom suffers from a number of diseases that impact her quality of life, and reoccurring endometriosis is one of them.

Her insurance does not cover any portion of the surgery. Out of pocket costs for her surgery is $20,000. However, only a handful of skilled surgeons know how to preform such a complicated procedure and requires traveling to different parts of the country. My mom's surgeon is in Chicago, so the remaining $6,000 will cover the airfare, hotel, and other associated medical costs that will come with the two to three week post-surgery recovery time. My mom and I are financially struggling and I work two jobs to make ends meet. To have the cost of the surgery and associated costs off our shoulders would be one less major thing to worry about. Once this campaign reaches just $500, my mom can schedule the required pre-surgery consultation with her surgeon. Please spread the word and share and contribute to the campaign. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this and please also take a look at the two links I've included!

The links are to studies done on endometriosis. It is not a fully understood disease and the causes of it are uncertain, I encourage you to take a look at them.
