Rebecca began intensive, invasive medical care in July, which has now caused cognitive impairment. The cognitive test results from December 2024 are drastically lower than from one year ago. This caused her to take extended leave from her job of 12 years as an educator. It was so long, just over a span of a month, that it depleted the allotted hours for PFML for the year. She has been on unpaid leave since mid-November 2024. She also no longer qualifies for DSHS benefits as she did previously, which helped with food costs and secondary medical. She has high-cost out-of-pocket medications monthly, plus monthly medical appointments of all kinds.
Rebecca also has a daughter and is recently married. She was medically cleared to work at first, in November, but that was before the cognitive testing came back from another provider. She is not cleared to return to work and there is no timeline on when this might change.
Rebecca has been addressing her mental health for many years now and doing what she can to take care of herself. Unfortunately, the consequences of her treatments have resulted in her not being able to work. She would appreciate any and all support!
