My family is in desperate need of help. My 15 year old cousin Micah,(although i refer to him as my nephew because his mom is more like a sister to me then an aunt) is going through some really serious health issues, here is a brief summary of what's going on right now. we Had a meeting with the entire medical team. Cardiologist, doctor, nurse practitioner etc. They feel as though they don't have time to spare and are going to operate Tuesday morning, january 23rd. Without this surgery, his heart will not be able to send the proper blood supply to his organs and they will shut down. They will be inserting a ventricular assist device. This will be an open heart surgery. This surgery in itself is very dangerous. He will be on the ventilator for at least 4 days . This is the device he needs while waiting for the heart transplant. He will be in the icu a minimum of 4 weeks . If a heart doesn't come through within that month, he will go home with this device and we wait for a call. Prayers are needed for strength, healing, guidance of the doctors and for finances. Every prayer helps, even If you can't give. It's been a day by day process, with many ups and downs, good moments of progress, and some setbacks along the way. Micah is definitely a fighter!! There is a group on Facebook called #heartstrongmicah and it is where we post updates and pictures about Micah. The machine in his heart is keeping him going until a heart comes in, for now it is just a waiting game. So we Wait. Micah waits. And all we can do is pray and continue to do whatever it is we can do to make the waiting a little more comfortable for him. He is so precious and loved by so many and that is truly a blessing.
