Please help me move after my STROKE

Donation protected
Hello friends,

I’m writing to you on behalf of Sanford. As most of you know already he suffered 2 strokes on Tuesday, August 29th, and was in Alexandria hospital until Friday September 1st. Sanford was found around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday morning in his apartment where he had fallen half way into the hallway bathroom, and was not able to speak coherently. The EMTs were called and arrived within 15 minutes of finding Sanford in such a state. When EMTs arrived, it was discovered that he had a temperature of 101.0 F, his blood pressure was very elevated, and his heart rhythm was all over the place.

While in the ER at Alexandria hospital a CT scan confirmed that Sanford was not only having 1 but 2 strokes. (A stroke is considered active for 24 hours from the time of onset, and the patient can improve or get much worse.) Sanford’s main stroke happened in the left front lobe, which is used for language. The other stroke was in the part of the brain that is used for vision. While Sanford is having problems with all aspects of his language arts since the stroke, he does not seem to be having any difficulty with his vision. He is also having much difficulty with the right side of his body, and having dimmed sensations on that side.

Some of you might already know that Sanford has been unemployed since April of this year, and has been looking for a job. He had been collecting unemployment from DC since then, but has not been able to find another job. He was let go from his last job for excessive absenteeism due to illnesses.

In the past couple of months Sanford has started to use a cane to aid him with walking, and had a MRI of his back. The MRI showed a pinched Thecal Sac, compressed disc, and he has sciatica pain, and he had an appointment to see a neurosurgeon to get back surgery. Now because of the stroke, the doctors at the hospital told him that it would be months before he could be cleared for back surgery.

Sanford has a very long road of recovery to go. He will be having speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, many doctors’ appointments, and other things also. He currently lives in a basement apartment that has 1 & ½ flights of stairs to get in and out of. He now needs to move ASAP, but needs your help, please. If we all chip in a few dollars we can reach our goal quickly. Please help a friend in need with a few dollars.

As of right now Sanford is no longer eligible for DC unemployment, and cannot collect that any longer. He has also not yet been deemed disabled. Therefore, he has no income at all, please help a friend who has had a life altering event, with a just a few dollar from each of us we can help Sanford move to have better access to live like he did before the stroke.
