My name is Shiku-wa (Eunice Wanjiku), I am 28 years old. I'm sharing my story in hopes of getting support as I prepare for what I hope will be my final surgery after a long and painful journey after the past 3 years. On August 12, 2022, I was involved in a car accident that left me with severe bruises and femur fracture. After the initial treatment, I started attending therapy sessions to aid my recovery. Unfortunately, after nearly a year, it became clear that my leg was not healing properly. The pain was worsening and something felt wrong.
In October 2023, we discovered that the doctor who initially treated my fracture had done so incorrectly, which led to a severe bone infection in my femur. As result, I had to undergo a second operation on October 4, 2023, to treat the infection and repair the damage. Since then, I have been attending continuous therapy sessions and I'm grateful to say that I made significant progress. I'm slowly regaining my strength. However, I'm not fully healed yet. I now need to undergo a third and final operation to:
1) Remove the metal implants in femur
2) Get a knew replacement as my knee was also severely affected
The cold weather causes intense pain and discomfort in my leg and simple tasks like walking or exercising have become very difficult. The next surgery is crucial to restore my mobility and end the chronic pain I've been living with. The cost of this operation is 450, 000 Kenyan Shillings (approximately $3,475 USD). I am kindly asking for any support (no matter how big or small) to help me raise this amount. Every contribution will bring me one step closer to living without pain and reclaiming the life I've missed for the last 3 years.
Form the bottom of my hear, thank you for reading my story. May God bless you for your kindness and generosity.
With hope and gratitude,
Shiku-wa (Eunice Wanjiku)
