Please help me help Zairus!

Zairus Cervantes was born on August 22,1996 in Pangasinan, Philippines. He was a high achiever at school but at the age of 15, he was first diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax. After many hospitalizations, he was further diagnosed with epilepsy, asthma, panic disorder and conversion disorder. Then he was finally diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, GERD, heart regurgitation and essential hypertension. His family has struggled to keep up with medications and treatments, as the costs escalate far beyond their means. There is very limited access to support for the family in a poor country like the Philippines, especially during these crazy Covid times.

However, Zairus somehow found me online and started sending me videos of him singing some classic show tunes, and asking my opinions of his performance, and how he could improve. His love of music, for theatre, and the arts has not only been his saving grace, but it is what keeps him going and motivated. It is this beautiful appreciation of the arts that first caught my attention.

One day, he decided to send me some poems that he wrote, and they were stunning. The depth of intelligence and character and Zairus have moved me since that day. The lyrics of this song, IN YOUR ARMS, are a poem that Zairus sent to me, about his family. I decided to turn it into a song, and made a video of it here so that you can see how remarkable this young man is.

They live very simply in a humble home, and the love and dedication that the family gives Zairus is both inspirational and devastating, as they give so much, they have nothing left. Zai's dad works as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia and sends all his money back home to take care of Zairus. His mother cannot work as she has to be the one to take care of Zairus 24/7.

So I am starting a GO FUND ME Campaign to help them with their medications and treatments. I do hope you can find it in your heart to help me help Zairus and his family. They are so worthy and deserving of your love and generosity...

I thank you from the bottom of my heart,
