Please help me get a new leg.

Last year, I injured my right foot, leading to a series of surgeries. Ultimately, I was diagnosed with Charcot Foot which is a degenerative disease of the ankle and bones in the foot. I was in excruciating pain for several months until I had the leg amputated below the knee in June. For the last few months I have been getting increasingly more healthy, with an almost completely pain-free life sincethen.
I have in the last week or so been working with a local prosthetics company to start the fitting process for a new leg, and have even been able to take a few steps with a "test leg"! 
The reason I am asking for money is that Medicare will pay 80% of the cost, but I will be responsible for the remainder, which the company tells me will be between three and five thousand dollars 
Because I am unable to work, my wife and I have been scraping by on her salary for several years now, and that amount of money is just not in our reach. 
I generally do not like to ask for money (or anything else, for that matter), but I do not really have another option right now. The prostheticist has not yet  told me the final price, but has said that I should start getting money together as soon as possible, so here I am. I can absolutely guarantee that my wife and I appreciate not just any donations, but also the fact that you are reading this. I ask that if you are willing, please pass this along to your friends lists, and to anyone else that you feel would be willing to help.
