 Hello, my name is Carol. On May 9th, 2026, my beloved Mother passed at 1:15 am, Friday night going into Saturday morning, from Vascular Dementia, a cavernous clot on her brain, dysphasia, and she had lost the use of her legs. In my home, in my bedroom, where she slept in her hospital bed, facing my bed, where I slept for the last four months of her life. I had made her a promise that I would stay with her until the end, and so I did, holding her hand, thanking her and telling her how much I loved her, until her last breath at age 89, three months short of 90. I myself am 60 years of age.

 At the very beginning, I had a few carers and two siblings who helped me, a few hours a week; then, it was just my mother and me. Towards the final eight months, I asked relations to help me. I moved them into my mother’s home, so that I could come back home at night, and then, in the final four months, brought my mother in her hospital bed, my relations, to my home. My mother to my bedroom, where my mother and I slept for the last four months of her life.

 A little bit about me, I am a single parent of four fantastic sons. Completely on my own for the last fourteen years, my choice. I have spent the last ten years caring for loved ones. In 2016, my beloved brother was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease. For the last eight months of his life, I, along with his loving wife, took care of him, right up until he died. In the next few months, my father got very ill, we all cared for him until his passing on Christmas Day in 2022. No sooner did my father die when I started caring full-time for my mother, in her home and in my home.

 Now my childhood home, my mother and father's home, will be going up for sale soon. I have cared for and loved my mother and father and cared for their family home for years. My greatest wish in life would be to buy the family home. I am not in a financial position to do that. The only hope I have at this stage would be to reach out for a miracle. I have a deep, profound love for my family home, my dream would be to buy the house, live in it, and grow old in it. I don’t own a home. I have spent most of my life caregiving, rearing my children alone, caring for loved ones. I myself have fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis; I will never be able to work again. My years of caregiving have taken their toll. My only hope, my last hope, would be a miracle, that I could buy the family home. And I’m going to need help to do that.

 My years pf caregiving are over, I’ve done the best I could, reared four children alone, I did the best that I could, cared full time for my loved ones, and now, my childhood home, part of every memory, every dream, is going to be gone, I would love to be able to buy our family home, it will be sold soon and that’s it, this is my last chance. I have given my life to caring for those I love, my parents, and my brother. For me now, if the house was sold to strangers, it would be like a whole part of me would go with it, sixty years of my life, is in that home, it would be unbearable to have to let that go too.
