Over the last month, Austin and Molly have been hit with trial after trial. It began with Molly's car being stolen and damaged, along with nearly $4,000 worth of her and their boys' personal belongings being stolen. In the midst of trying to deal with that situation, they had a sewage backup that flooded their home with hazardous waste. They paid hundreds of dollars for a plumber to come fix the issue, and a restoration company began work cleaning. A couple of days into that process, they experienced another sewage backup that undid all the work that had been done. Another plumber and several hundred dollars later, the issue was actually fixed and the other company was able to continue their work. While removing the ruined floors and bottom part of the drywall, they discovered mold behind the walls that stretched up to the ceiling, as well as asbestos in the tiles that were breaking apart and crumbling. They had to pay out of pocket to stay in a hotel while everything was cleaned and contained, and they are now living with a gutted basement with no floor and no walls, that is covered in plastic and open straight to the garage because their insurance policy was maxed out from the removal process.
To make matters worse, they took their dog, Mabel, to the emergency vet on Monday evening with concerns of a uterine prolapse, and they were told that she has a large mammary tumor with a high likelihood of malignancy. If she doesn't have surgery within the next few days, she will almost certainly lose the ability to urinate and pass away. The surgery will be between $1,500-$2,000, and it has to be paid on Thursday morning before the surgery. With everything else they've had to pay in recent weeks, they're unable to pay out of pocket for the bill. We are asking for any support they can get to help ease this burden and get them through their hardest season yet.
