On February 17th, 2021 an angel was introduced to heaven far too early, and in senseless fashion. Our friend, family and beloved spirit, Luiza Shinkarevskaya, was taken from us in an act of brutal violence that we will never be able to fully understand. To the ones who knew her, our lives will forever be changed and diminished because Luiza filled our world with a bright light. She was simply beautiful, inside and out. Her sense of devotion to her friends and family was immeasurable; she would be at the side of her loved ones at the drop of a dime. She did not have the word “no” in her vocabulary. Those of
us who were blessed to have been close to Luiza, all know that she did not have a negative bone in her body. She was as genuine and warm as the shining Sun above us.

Luiza was born on October 27th, 1980 in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States as a young girl at the age of 9 years. Her mother, Bella Kazanovich and her father, Victor Shinkarevsky, immigrated to the city of Brooklyn, NY where they lived for the past 31 years. Luiza was raised in Brooklyn, where she met many of her friends and remained extremely close with her family. She also leaves behind her partner, Joe Hernandez, whom Luiza loved and lived with for the past 11 years. All of us whom she left behind will miss her dearly and will try to remember Luiza’s life as she would want us to. We will never forget her bright smile, gorgeous eyes, and uplifting sense of humor. Luiza would always love to spend time with her cousins, Mishel, Yana, Diana, her close friends and of course her mother, Bella. We can’t forget how much she also loved animals, taking care of her late dog “Polo” and her parrot “Cleo" for many of her adult years. Luiza worked professionally as an ultrasound technician, assisting physicians in their diagnosis of the sick and elderly. She worked tirelessly to bring joy and wellness to ALL the people she knew and cared for.

Luiza’s life was full and she often enjoyed travelling to far and exotic places on Earth. Her last vacation was to Mexico with her best friend, Anna Shpilberg, who was also lost in the same unimaginable fashion. We shall choose to remember Luiza in the photos left behind of her displaying that big, bright smile with a sombrero playfully on top of her head. We shall choose to remember Luiza as she was: a youthful, exuberant woman with all the love in the world to give to all who knew her.

The family members who she left behind would like to ask those who can, to donate to a relief fund in Luiza Shinkarevskaya’s name. Our goal is to raise $13,000 in order to help her immediate family with the funeral arrangements and necessities. Please donate what you can, but even if you cannot, always
remember Luiza and her shining smile and loving personality.

We love you, angel, and may your shining light illuminate us for all of our days.

Peace and Love,
Family of Luiza Shinkarevskaya

All proceeds will be allocated to Mishel Chanmin, Luiza’s closest cousin (who was more like a sister to her). These proceeds will be donated to Luiza’s mother, to help cover funeral service costs. Thank you for anything you can do.
