Please help Kathy Pay her weekly health insurance!

Update: Kathy met the goal to pay the past due insurance. Thank you ALL!!  We are now working to raise money to pay her ongoing weekly expenses which include $77 weekly health insurance.  She still has a long road to recovery before she can return to work. 

She is on a personal unpaid leave from work and has been unable to pay her health insurance since May. If you can help, we truly appreciate it!!!

On March 8th my sister Kathy was admitted to the hospital due to respiratory distress. Her thyroid had swollen so big on both sides of her esophagus, that she could not breath. It only took a couple days for the hospital to diagnose her with an agressive B cell lymphoma. After 8 days, 4 procedures, and her first round of chemo she was finally discharged home. Within 2 weeks she had already lost all her hair.

My sister has worked in textiles the majority of her life. She worked up until she was admitted to the hospital. Due to the side effects of chemo, and the risk of infection to her port, which is required for chemo, she can’t go back to work for at least 6 to 9 months.

Kathy is a fighter but financially she is struggling. She is lucky to have health insurance, but between her deductibles and copay’s, coupled with her rent, utilities, food and car payment, she is not only worried about getting well, she is worried about maintaining her home and keeping her transportation.

To give you an idea of the costs, the hospital asked for $2000 upfront for just her PET scan. She will need at least two during her treatment.

The infusion center wants a $500 copay to cover the 10% copay for each chemo treatment. Her treatment plan states she needs to have 6 treatments.

That doesn’t include the copays for medicine, doctors visits, and living expenses while she is out of work. Plus, her short term disability only pays $100 after it pays her health insurance premiums.
