Meet Josiah! Josiah is a 13-year-old young man from Newark, New Jersey. Like others his age, Josiah likes football, basketball, and hanging out with his friends. But, on another note, Josiah is unique. As the oldest child in his family, he provides daily care to his younger four siblings while being an active volunteer in his neighborhood and church as a choir singer. Josiah has participated in Role Models for Men and received a certificate for his contribution. Josiah has dreamed of being an robotics engineer since he was young. Creating an educational pathway that is supportive and challenging is crucial for him to meet his long-term goal.

Josiah applied to and was accepted to the exceptional St. Benedicks Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. St. Benedicks is a K-12 Catholic school whose mission is to foster capable, loving and resilient young people. In addition, the program offers experimental learning programs, convocation, and socioemotional learning opportunities. Josiah and his family have applied for numerous grants for his tuition, but a balance remains, inhibiting him from accepting placement in the program.
