Help Jim & Renee through the setbacks of a stroke.
This is our sister Renee, and her husband Jim. Jim has been a public servant most of his life. After high school, he was an MP in the United States military. He worked as a police officer at a local department, and then as a county sheriff’s deputy. Currently, he works as a federal police officer. He is respected and loved by everyone who knows him. To us, he’s Jimmy or JJ... He’s a husband, a dad, a brother, a brother-in-law, an uncle, a son-in-law, and a friend. I bet if we asked Jim what his favorite job has been so far, his answer would be being a DAD. Jim and Anthony have an incredible bond. They always have. Jim has been Anthony’s baseball coach, his biggest fan, and his best friend. As you can imagine, Anthony is struggling with all of this.
In December, Jim was diagnosed with COVID-19, and ended up in a local hospital with pneumonia. He returned home on the December 23. Unfortunately two days later, on Christmas morning, Jim suffered a massive stroke. His recovery is slow. He has had several setbacks. Just when we think he is making progress, other issues arise. He was finally taken off the ventilator, and the staff had him sitting in a chair today, but he will continue to wear a medical helmet because he has a 50% craniectomy. On top of that, he is fighting infections, and has blood clots that the doctors are addressing.
The amount of love and support Renee continues to receive is an amazing thing. So many people have asked how they can help. We have decided to start this so she won’t have to add financial strain to her worries. Jim won’t be able to return to work for a significant amount of time. While he is still in the hospital, Renee is returning to her job, but will most likely miss more work when Jim comes home. There have already been added expenses, and we don’t want her to stress. Jim has a very long road ahead of him, but we are just thankful he’s here with us.
