Help Jegan pay medical bills and treatment

Hi, my name is Megan, and my sweet 16-year-old daughter Jegan was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on Friday 08/21. This was the most devastating news for a parent to hear.

It all started when Jegan began to complain of having headaches and frequently feeling tired and weak, so I scheduled an appointment with her primary doctor. The doctor recommended further evaluation from a specialist, so he scheduled a future dated appointment to see a specialist. Long story short, we had to make an emergency room visit as Jegan’s headaches had gotten worse, to the point she fainted.

I immediately drove her to the nearest emergency room, and once we arrived, they began to run all type of test on her. After several hours of sitting there waiting and feeling so stressed and overwhelmed, I was told that my daughter had the disease Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and she would need to remain in the hospital for a while. Jegan was admitted to the Children's hospital in Indianapolis, IN, on Friday (08/21) just days before her 16th birthday.

After day 3 in the hospital, I found out that my insurance did not cover hospitalizations, so she was soon discharged with instructions to return if things got worse. This was devastating news. I am a single mom and sole financial and physical provider for my two beautiful children (Jegan and Jason). I had to leave the hospital with my daughter not knowing what would happen next. I couldn’t even sleep as thoughts continued to flood my mind that anything could happened to my baby girl, and I needed to be up to monitor Jegan throughout the night. This was very stressful.

As time went on, Jegan began to feel a lot better as she continued to take serval different medications she was placed on, along with changes to her diet. Therefore, Jegan wasn’t due for a follow up doctors visit until 12/15. Unfortunately, Jegan took a turn for the worse and was recently rushed to the emergency room on Thursday 11/05. Jegan arrived at the ER feeling extremely dizzy and weak, so multiple tests were taking to determine the cause of the flareup. The ER doctor eventually informed me that Jegan had dangerously low levels of hemoglobin in the blood at 5 g/dl, and required an immediate blood transfusion. My Jegan was discharged from the ER on 11/10.

Since Jegan’s diagnosis of MS, I have worked very hard to maintain financially; to cover medical bills, medications, treatments, living expenses, etc. However, I am currently unemployed and will soon exhaust my unemployment benefits. This has been very hard for my family and even more exhausting financially.

At this point I have no way to cover my daughter’s hospital bills, medications, or any other expenses for that matter. I am a single mother in desperate need of prayer and financial assistance, please.

I want Jegan to have the closes to normal life as she possibly can. I want her to still go to college and live out her big dreams. I want her to keep her sweet hopeful spirit by being at her optimal health even with this disease. I don’t want to lose my baby due to lack of resources.

I humbly ask that you please help my family and I to overcome this life-threatening illness by providing the financial support we lack.

I sincerely thank you for your taking the time to hear my story; for all the love, prayers, and support to my family.
