Please Help Jake Gill be buried near his family.

Hi, my name is David Baker. I am fundraising for my late nephew Jake Gill, who passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2021 at about 420am from a seizure. He had just turned 20 in June.

Jake, who struggled with autism, didn’t have his father in his life growing up. He also struggled with fitting in with others, as the world looked different through his eyes and his challenged perceptions. Jake found a way to connect with people by playing video games. He made many friends in his video game world, spending more time playing games than connecting with people in the real world.

Academically, Jake always struggled, but he was smarter than most in other ways. He could tell you everything about Tesla cars, and would always recognize whenever there was a Tesla within eye sight.

Jake’s autism prevented him from ever finding normalcy in his life. He loved his family, who also love him and miss him dearly. His family struggles to make ends meet in these trying times. It’s heartbreaking to watch Jake go, and we will always miss having him around.

While Jake didn’t grow up with seizures, he started getting them a couple of years ago. His surviving twin sister Jessica also started getting seizures around the same time. Jake’s seizures started getting worse this year and he was in emergency 3 times before the one that took his life.  Jake was always terrified of hospitals and needles, so it was traumatizing for him to go through that.

Jake developed a fear of death from the seizures. He would often say, “I don’t want to die.” to his other family members. He also started having conversations about his death if he ever died. Jake’s pre-death wish was to be buried on his own property so he could always be close to his family. Although everyone was afraid for Jake because of his seizures, nobody expected him to die. After his last seizure before the one that took his life, he ended up having a severe life threatening one that put him in intensive care for a week.

The thought if being cremated terrified Jake as much as the thought of being alone if he died. His family is devastated over his death and is now financially overwhelmed at the cost of providing his desired resting place near his family.  His 3 surviving brothers, 2 sisters, and his mother all need him to be near so they can feel the comfort of his presence. The desired plan is to survey a family burial plot on their land to put Jake in his final resting place. This will provide comfort for his surviving family knowing that Jake will be buried where he said he wanted to be if he died.

There is a huge cost in creating a family burial plot, along with all the other costs. I pray that if this platform helps raise the funds I am asking for, it will be enough. Any funds over the amount asked for will be donated to charities related to autism and seizures.
