Please help injured firefighter

Brayden Forsyth is a member of the Blackwater Unit Crew of the BC Wildfire Service. On Tuesday 15th May he was badly injured when the motorcycle he was riding to work went off Highway 97. Brayden was airlifted to Vancouver with multiple fractures as well as serious internal injuries. It's likely he will be off work for the rest of the wildfire season and perhaps longer, with few benefits as a seasonal employee.

At present Brayden is in Vancouver General Hospital, beginning his journey to recovery. We're looking for help:  with expenses for his loved ones to be there with him, as well as to support his young family in Quesnel. With only one income now to make mortgage payments, Brayden and his partner Jordan need the help of all his friends and family.

Although the initial estimate of need is for $5,000, it will likely take much more to carry these young people over this rough patch. Please consider giving whatever you are able.

Here's some background on this fellow, from his fellow crew members...

Brayden was born and raised in the community of Kersley, just south of Quesnel. An avid motor sports enthusiast from a young age, he grew up exploring the back roads of the Cariboo on dirt bikes, quads and 4x4 trucks.  If it's powered by an internal combustion engine, Brayden can probably skillfully operate and repair it.

In 2012, he was selected from his grade 12 Junior Fire Crew class to join the Blackwater Unit Crew in Quesnel.  His hard work and dedication that he showed through the class continued through the summer and he was taken on as regular crew member that fall.  Since that time he has become an integral part of the crew becoming a skilled chainsaw operator, excellent fire fighter, and a role model of superb work ethic to new comers on the crew.

Outside of the fire world, Brayden recently took part in a cross country horse back trip to raise awareness for Canadian military veterans.  This spring, he was in the process of joining the Canadian Army Reserve and was looking forward to basic training later this year.

Brayden and his partner Jordan bought their first home in 2016. Since then, he has been using any free time available to continually renovate and improve his home and property and takes great pride in his work. In addition to him and Jordan, they share their space with horses, goats, cats and dogs. 

Brayden is one of the toughest (physically and mentally) people we have ever worked with and if anyone can pull through this unfortunate accident it will be him.
