<div>My name Haneen Naim Elhassanat. My family is the most precious thing that I have in life. It is the true definition that “nobody gets left behind or forgotten”. Never have I imagined that a daydream would turn into a nightmare. In October 7th, the Israeli occupation had given itself the green light to start a new wave of violence against us in the Gaza Strip. The sounds of explosions, the smells of gunfire and gunpowder, the scenes of brutality and bloodbaths, the atmosphere of horror and fear were the right theme to describe what we had to witness until further notice! October the 7th was a turning point in Gazens’ lives since the genocide has been normalized! The destruction has been normalized, the bloodshed has been normalized, the weeping and tear-shedding have been normalized, and still we had to endure that. The most powerful person couldn’t, then what chance does normal person have to endure? I lost my home, my relatives, my friends, my dreams and nobody seems to pay attention at all. We have been displaced from our shelter four times in less than two months. The last time we were displaced, was in Al-Maghazi refugee camp where we woke up suddenly to the sounds of gunfire and explosions. The quadcopters and military helicopters were hovering overhead. The Israeli occupation had invaded the place we were staying in, forcing us out at the gunpoint in less than five minutes. The horror hadn’t just stopped there. No, they also insulted us and threatened us that they will kill us if we didn’t obey their orders. They divided us into two groups: males and females. They took my male relatives naked in front of our eyes. Israeli occupation humiliated, tortured, and brutally beatmy male relatives without mercy, including my father, uncles and brother. Imagine, my father and brother! They took them to the unknown! And for us, we had to run for our lives more than three kilometers away while bodies and pieces of corpses were strewn about the streets. I had to hang on a single hope to hear any news from my father and brother to be sure they were alive! You may think that we freaked out or we even cried, but at this point the luxury of falling apart wasn’t printed in our dictionary. By losing everything we had, we ended up living in a tent in a-so-called “refugee camp”. There is never enough food, water, or medical aid provided or even available to us. It is a big-open air prison, just like Gaza was and has always been. I am asking from my heart, please help us, me and my family, escape to safety!
