Update from my wife~ 6-9-25:
Poppy's implant removal surgery is scheduled for this Thursday 6-12-25! I will continue to keep you all updated!
Thank you all so much for your support!!
Hello, I'm trying to raise some money for two operations for my dog, Poppy. She has been through a lot in her short 5 years. She was born in Nebraska on a reservation, when she was rescued there were seven puppies total Poppy and two of her siblings were the only survivors. When she was a couple of months old she picked up a dead bat and had to be quarantined for 6 months! At eight months old she was spayed and had to have a tooth removed as it was growing sideways in her mouth. About a year later she slipped on the ice and broke a tooth that had to be removed.
She was hit by a car 4 years ago and was given an implant to fix her leg, (emergency surgery, yeah that cost was in the thousands!) but a few months ago she developed an infection caused by the implant. Now she needs it removed to prevent the infection from coming back. She also tore her ACL on the same leg and needs that repaired. She is a very active and intelligent dog. She has been sidelined, and it's really just sad to see her wanting to play and run but can't because of the pain. We have finally gotten her on the right antibiotic (after 1 month and not seeing any improvement) for the specific infection that she has and she is now a lot comfortable than what she was. She will be on the current medication for 3 weeks which costs $200. We are working with the vet to set up the surgery to get her implant removed, and then time to recover from that (which will be 2-4 weeks) only to have another surgery on the same leg for the ACL repair (recovery from that will be up to 12 weeks!). The surgery for implant removal is at a pet hospital in Arden Hills MN and will cost between $3,000- $4,300. The ACL surgery is at Poppy's primary clinic in Corcoran MN and will cost $4,000. The surgery has yet to be scheduled as I am trying to figure out how I can pay for it! She will definitely be getting the surgery some how some way! She is my best friend and can't imagine what I would do without her! I'm just trying to raise some money to help off set the cost all of this will cost me! I will indeed keep you all updated with pictures and updates as I get them! Thank you all for any funds given! They are very much appreciated! I will add more pictures of Poppy.
I've included a picture of the original leg surgery that happened 4 years ago!
