WE MET OUR GOAL FOR FRED's SURGERY

Donation protected
WE MET OUR GOAL!!! NO MORE DONATIONS NEEDED! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED FRED.
On 4/2/18 I took Fred to the vet because he was breathing too fast and he felt hot. X-rays were taken and he had pneumonia, but the vet (Dr. McCallister) also saw the spleen did not look normal. In order to get a better view of the spleen, an ultrasound was taken and a nodule/tumor was found on the spleen. Two days at the vet cost me $750. The vet recommended removal of the spleen (dogs can live without it) because if the tumor bursts it will kill Fred immediately; he would bleed out. I had a lengthy talk with Dr. McCallister, lots of questions answered and scenarios explored.  Dr. McCallister was the same vet that recommended Maya be put to sleep back in 2008 because there was nothing that could be done; the cancer was everywhere. He definitely recommends the surgery and would do it if it were his own dog. If all goes well and the tumor, if cancerous has not spread, Fred can walk out of the clinic after the surgery the same day and could live up to a year more.

I adopted Fred last year after one of my patients passed away and his daughter who has a terminal disease, asked me if I would adopt Fred. I fell in love with Fred the day I met him and did not hesitate one bit saying "yes." He has been a wonderful addition to my family which now consists of 4 dogs and a horse. Although Fred will be 11 soon he still is full of life and love. He sleeps with me every night as well as Achilles my Boston Terror mix of 10 years. All my dogs are rescues. I am not ready nor willing to say goodbye to Fred and neither is his previous co-owner (the daughter of my patient). She still visits Fred when she is feeling well and I have agreed to visit her if she is not able to. Fred means a lot to more people than just me.

The surgery will cost on the low end $1,169.84  and on the high end $1,642.13. I could not get the entire image to load, but you can do the math.

Please help me get the money for his surgery. I am not able to afford this surgery on my own and I have personal prescriptions that cost me up to $400 a month that is not covered by insurance. I am not asking for the full $1642 as I will be able to afford the difference myself. Fred does have arthritis and I have to pay for the pain meds for him as well.

Any amount will help. Even if you can only donate $5 every penny counts. Thank you in advance and I appreciate all the help you can give.

How soon do I need these funds? Hopefully before the end of April. I'd rather have Fred have his surgery when the weather is not as hot yet.

If you want to verify the veracity of this surgery cost, etc., you may contact the clinic of Dr. McCallister at Village Veterinary Hospital, 250 Bosque Farms Boulevard, Bosque Farms, NM 87068-9649, (505) [phone redacted].
