This Pandemic has destroyed my business and means of making a living to support my Son and I. Many small businesses have suffered, I know; this is horrific for all of us. Being a single Mom, with no help during the COVID19 lockdown has depleted my savings.
March 11th it all came crashing down. The amazing artists I work for all canceled their tours. Massage is the last thing on people's minds during a Pandemic, understandably. The WHOLE touring industry is toast.
Desmond, my 7 year old (soon to be 8 years old) Son and I were SO HAPPY in the house we are renting. We were in the process of buying it (my first time ever to try and buy) and BOOM: Pandemic. So I was stuck in the process when the axe fell.
My landlord now has fire under our feet: continue to buy, pay much more rent or get out. Yes I know, eviction is temporarily halted, I have been paying rent but I have lived off of savings since March and the loan that was on the table requires a down payment. Even MOVING in NJ into a new rental, as most know, costs over $9,000 (realtor fee is one month rent, 1.5 months deposit, PLUS first months rent).
If you can not help, please share. If you CAN help, you are helping save Desmond and I.
Times are very scary as I have no idea how long it will be before the touring industry (that's what my massage business is about mostly) and massage resume. People are afraid to get massages and chiropractic adjustments and the Governments, world wide, have pretty much banned such treatments until the Pandemic is over. They forced us all to stop working without helping financially.
No school since March 12th means I have been with Desmond 24/7 doing home schooling, cooking, cleaning, loving and caring for him PLUS trying to make ends meet. I try my best to appear strong and happy. I am the one who usually helps, heals and fixes other people's problems.
I AM grateful that Desmond and I are healthy and alive but worry we will soon be forced out.
Me asking for help is humiliating, very embarrassing and I am thinking showing weakness will kill my career but guess what? It is already over due to this Pandemic. What do I have to lose now? EVERYTHING.
This landlord has since raised the price and this means what the bank appraised it for is lower than what He is asking so I have to raise the difference (which is $50,000!) but I am starting low and will see.
Donations of $100 or more will be rewarded. I can make you videos of me wishing you a happy birthday or singing your favorite song. Maybe a massage tutorial video. More than that, and you can visit Desmond and I once the Government allows us to all move freely. I have never done a Go-Fund-Me for myself before so I am probably doing it wrong, talking too much, asking too much. I am open for critique. If/when I get strong again, you know you can count on me for shout outs, help, anyway I can.
