My name is Paul Watkins. I am a type 2 diabetic. I am a father of 4 daughters and a grandfather to 4 boys. On January 15th, 2021 I had a heart attack. I was rushed to the emergency room where I stayed in the icu in the hospital for a month. I had undergo many procedures and surgeries. During that time for 8 days I was in an induced coma. I had an infection in my kidneys, lungs, and liver. My heart became very weak because it wasn’t getting and blood flow due to my arteries.  My daughters were faced with the decision to either pull the plug or keeping me alive. My girls didn’t lose faith. In February I was transferred to a rehabilitation/ recovery center for a month. Being back home was still a struggle with dealing with anxiety, having trouble breathing, walking, and depression. Then having to deal with the uncomfortably of having bed sores and diabetic foot ulcers. On March 28th, 2021 there was a fire in my building in the Bronx that caused me to lose EVERYTHING!! I was one of the 7 people that was injured and treated for oxygen. I reached out to Red Cross and they were able to accommodate me for 1 hotel stay in Brooklyn. I’ve used up majority of my savings between going back and forth to the hospital and paying for cabs, and hotel stays. I couldn’t afford to stay another night at the hotel,  so thankfully my nephew gave me temporary shelter so I wouldn’t be on the street. I’m humbly asking for any donations to please help me pay for medical bills, transportation, anything towards my recovery from this devastating situation.
