Our good friend needs our help!!
Derek was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation recently, had it been any later we might well have lost him. As if that ordeal wasn't bad enough, now he's being inundated with medical bills, putting financial strain on his family.
It is estimated his total time off work will be at least 6 weeks, with no annual leave or payed sick days left, his family are eating into the last of his savings to survive.
Derek has been a huge influence musically to Melbourne. He has shared so much with us and spread endless joy with his amazing Heartical Hi Powa sound system and contribution to community radio.
Not only is he a legend amongst the local music scene, he continues to provide to the community through his role as a therapeutic residential youth worker, caring for disadvantaged youths in a very demanding role. These kids need him back at work ASAP.
NOW if we could only make a small donation to help Derek cover his medical bills, I believe we can aid him towards a much speedier and stress-free recovery, getting him back to the fine work he does for our community.
