Please help Dee fight Kidney Cancer

My bother in law Donasiano Fernandez (Dee) was diagnosed with Stage lV Clear cell Renal Carcinoma with metastases to the spine.On Friday March 16, 2017 he was initially treated for a kidney infection, he came home from work early to rest and was in so much pain my sister took him to Sandoval Reginal in Rio Rancho. Upon initial exam the doctor thought he had kidney stones. They took him for a CT scan where they discovered a 10cm (4 inches) mass on his left kidney. They immediately transferred him to the main UNM hospital in Albuquerque.He had many tests including CT scans, X-rays and MRI’s. UNM urology performed a radical nephrectomy (removed the kidney) on March 21st. He is still in the hospital and is facing more testing and radiation for the cancer in his spine. My sister is looking into different treatment options in Texas and California as well as what UNM can offer locally.Dee is the sole provider for his family, his work is physically demanding, he probably will not be able to return to the job he loves. He has a wonderful wife (my sister Alicia) and 2 beautiful children under the age of 13. My 13 year old niece has CDLS- Cornelia de Lange Syndrome and my sister was diagnosed with HES- Hyper Eosinophilic Syndrome 3 years ago and is unable to work. Disability will be considerably less than half of his 70 hour work week. At this point we are unsure if their private insurance will continue and allow them to seek care with hospitals that specialize in treatments for this very aggressive cancer.We are asking at this time all our friends and family come together and help with expenses including: Medical bills, mortgage, utilities, food, gas, possible travel expenses and health insurance premiums.Dee and Alicia will also need help with cooking, cleaning and yard work if anyone is interested in helping in other ways. Of course we will keep everyone updated as we find out more.
