We need your help to buy more time for Dave.
On April 30th my husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (an incurable rare blood cancer). It’s hard to comprehend what the future holds, definitely not something we were expecting as we made our marriage vows just weeks earlier.
What we do know is that Dave has started chemo and will be having a stem cell transplant later in the year. But after that, without the drug, Revlimid (currently not available on the NHS), his life will be cut much too short.
This treatment is not cheap and will cost £60, 000 for each year he survives – money which we simply do not have. Our goal is to secure two years of the drug; after that we are hoping it will be made available on the NHS, if still needed. We are a normal working family, with no savings, living month to month as most people do. We now cannot borrow as Dave has what lenders call a terminal illness. They say time is money but in this case money is time - if Dave can access this drug his time left with us will double. Our youngest daughter, Eleanor, is only 9 years old; she needs her daddy.
If everyone can give a little we can achieve a lot and help keep the cancer at bay for significantly longer.
My husband, Dave, is 46 years old, he lives for his children and the Toon; please let him have a future. He hasn't asked me to start this campaign but I believe he deserves it; he is the most amazing husband and daddy, and we don't know what we'd do without him.
