Please help buy Cameron his own Rugby League Wheelchair
Donation protected
Cameron was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder in March 2023 after losing the feeling in his legs and has been wheelchair dependant since then. In February 2024 he attended a taster session at Leeds Rhinos for wheelchair Rugby League and instantly fell in love with the game. Four months later, in June, he made his debut appearance for the Rhinos' Superleague Team scoring his first Superleague try!
Playing at the highest level of the game requires commitment, training and equipment, Cameron has been placed on the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme by Leeds Trinity University who provide him with a mentor, and access to their gym and sportshall. However, Cameron does not currently have his own chair, he borrows a club one for training and matches, which is a standard chair, much heavier than those of his team mates and opponents. Having his own lightweight specialist chair, which will be made to his measurements will not only allow him to compete on a more level basis but will mean that he can practise and train in it throughout the week.
We are fundraising in order to purchase Cameron a RGK Elite RL wheelchair which is widely used within the Super League and is suitable for use at the highest level of the game. The cost of this wheelchair is £4,948, any money raised over this amount will be used for any necessary repairs, spares and maintainence, thank you.
