Angie Byrne is not only my dear Friend, but also one of my Dog Training Students. I don’t know anyone who is a better Dog Mom than she is.
She adopted a Border Collie Puppy, Whiskey, in December. (She already has 1 Border Collie that she trains in Obedience, Rally & Agility.) Whiskey recently went through a 6-day emergency ordeal…
On March 25th, Angie took him to the Emergency Vet Clinic because he was vomiting constantly - couldn’t keep anything down. He had also ceased pooping. They did X-Rays & gave him Fluids. Then they sent him to the Vet Clinic at the University of Florida. There, he had an Endoscopy & they removed a large, dense Hairball & a piece of Metal.
On March 27th, he was still vomiting. So Angie took him back to the Emergency Vet. They did more X-Rays, & gave him Anti-Nausea Meds & more Fluids.
On March 29th, he was back to vomiting constantly - so Angie took him back to the Emergency Vet. They did X-Rays again, as well as an Ultrasound. Then he was sent back to UF for a suspected Intestinal Blockage. He was too dehydrated to do Surgery that day, so it was done on March 30th.
Turns out that the major culprit was a piece of Silicone from a Slow-Feeder Insert that he had chewed about a month before! He spent the night at UF & went back home with Angie on April 1st.
He has spent the time since recovering - crate-rest & leash-walking only. Quite difficult for an energetic Border Collie Puppy. He is a sweet boy & we are just thankful that he survived.
I have summarized his Vet Care. The total is now $10,318.52. That’s an amount that Angie really can’t afford, but it was necessary in order to save his life.
Would you kindly consider donating toward his Vet Bills and/or sharing this fund-raiser?
Every little bit helps. Thank You so much.
(Copies of Vet Bills will be provided upon request.)
Please Note: Once Whiskey is 100%, we will continue to work on his Behavioral Issues - including stealing items & ingesting them. This behavior is likely due to Anxiety & OCD. (Perhaps he is even suffering from Pica.) Angie is dedicated to keeping everything he could possibly chew out of his reach & working on his behaviors issues.
