PLEASE DESPERATELY HELP THESE PEOPLE

My Immediate family members (Wife & 17 Month Old Son) Extended Family,Friends, Local Community as well as the whole country of Vietnam have been heavily heavily affected and impacted by the Delta Variant Strain of the Coronavirus. (Covid -19)

The local government in Vietnam is doing all it can to contain the Virus, completely shutting down Ho Chi Minh City (A City the size of Melbourne with 20 Million People) and Provences all over Vietnam .The Vietnamese government has deployed over 50,000.00 troops country wide to secure all areas to stop the spread of the deadly virus.

Due to these unprecedented circumstances and extremely harsh lockdowns, residents have only been granted permission leave their homes for 1 or 2 hours per day, and in some areas not even at all...not even to leave for essential items .A ticketing system is in place which allows residents to goto the market once weekly and buy what they need to survive.Due to the inability to goto work due to these harsh lockdowns, residents have no money to actually goto the market to buy essential items.In some cases they are selling their market pass to people who have money and who can afford to buy groceries whenever they want, then using that money for the next round to go to the market.

Unfortunately, in Vietnam there is no government support packages available for its citizens and or businesses programs, welfare systems like Centrelink, Medicare, Job Seeker etc

Families have been affected dramatically,People have not been able to goto work and earn themselves any money and are completely anxious of whats going to happen next, how long it will take for the virus to be eradicated, and how they can continue to feed their own families....Constantly worrying when their next meal will be.

Tragedy and tough times is no stranger for Vietnam.50 years on from the Vietnam War seen over 1 million innocent people lose their lives with many parts of Vietnam still recovering from one of the worst war's in human history.There is still a a large portion of the Vietnamese population who lived through the Vietnam War and now once again they are faced with further adverse circumstances due to the current Pandemic, which has now ultimately taken millions more of innocent lives across the world.

What breaks my heart is this......This for me hit home while I was on the phone yesterday.

My wife asked me yesterday with a brave face (while I was face-timing her and my son who I haven't seen for nearly a whole year due to this pandemic) that If I wasn't to embarrassed could I ask family & friends to donate $5.00 or $10.00 dollars to help raise some money for suffering families in our local community in Vietnam......Without even thinking I agreed.

This morning I woke and thought maybe I can use the gofundme.com platform (which this is my first time)to share this message with fellow citizens who might be able to help....Understanding that we are all facing lockdowns and restrictions,But in no way like what Vietnam is currently experiencing.

Currently help & support is active and on the way.... but is limited.

The local Government,Missions and religious communities are providing and donating essentials, care packages , Fresh Fruit & Vegetables,Rice and clean drinking water throughout the community for families, many of whom have 3 or 4 young children in each family.Medical treatment is diabolical and in some cases many families are turning to natural remedies to treat their own children because they cant afford to take them to the doctor.
