Please consider helping Fergus.

Hello, I'm Jamie, Fergus's Nanna. From the moment you meet him, Fergus makes a lasting impression on everyone. It breaks my heart to share that my daughter came home from work to find him mauled by another dog. There was an alarming amount of blood, and he had urinated blood as well. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where they assessed his injuries, cleaned his wounds, performed X-rays for any fractures, and conducted an ultrasound on his kidneys.

He suffered severe puncture wounds, which apparently shouldn’t be bandaged to help prevent infection. He received IV fluids and pain medication, and his wounds were monitored closely. When my daughter picked him up around 1 AM, she was relieved to see him but didn’t question the bandages on his wounds. The total for this urgent care came to $1,492.

On Thursday, wanting to ensure his care, my daughter called the emergency vet to ask about removing a painkiller patch, as the instructions stated it should be taken off after two days. They advised her to leave it on, leaving her confused and concerned about the conflicting information from the paperwork received.

When she took Fergus to his usual vet, he needed more treatment because his wound had become infected. He refused to eat, and as I write this, he still hasn’t eaten. He’s been admitted for IV fluids, antibiotics, pain relief, hospitalisation, and thorough wound cleaning, racking up an additional $1,278 in costs. To make matters worse, he developed an eye infection and severe swelling in his front legs along with possible necrosis. Witnessing his suffering is truly heartbreaking.

Despite taking him home with another round of medication, my daughter remained worried about his ongoing lethargy and lack of appetite. She returned him to his vet for additional blood tests and wound care, incurring another expense of $450.

We’ve now learned from recent blood tests that Fergus has developed issues with his gallbladder and bile duct. He needs to be rushed to a different emergency vet clinic and must stay there for at minimum 12 hours. The expenses are mounting, and we urgently need help to ensure this beloved little companion stays with us. The latest current quote is anywhere from $2k to $5k if he is required to be kept in till Monday.
My daughter has always worked hard, and after facing many challenges, things seemed to be finally going well for her. She got into university in a field she loves while balancing a part-time job to support herself through her studies. This unexpected crisis is devastating for her, and I am reaching out in hope of support. Any assistance to help save Fergus would mean the world to us. Thank you for considering our request.
Anything, being small or large, or even a share to get this out there is appreciated. People, when they band together, can accomplish amazing things.
