Hey everybody
Very happy to announce that we will be heading back to the Dominican Republic this November for our second Play Inspired campaign.
This year, we will be supporting two projects:
- Youth baseball tournament consisting of four teams from the greater Santiago/Puerto Plata area: Liga Bartolo Colon del Copey, Liga Juventud Cristiana de Los Canos, Escuela de Beisbol Pinguinitos la Escalereta, and Liga Aridio Garcia de Altamira.
- One-day youth softball event featuring girls from Altamira, Rio Grande, Quebrada Honda, and Palmar Grande.
Any and all donations are accepted and incredibly appreciated. We will gladly organize collection and transportation of gently used equipment to donate to the youth leagues in the Dominican Republic. Priority items to collect include:
- Cleats
- Gloves
- Bats
With existing funds and additional money raised from GoFundMe, we will:
- Cover all fees for boys & girls to participate
- Buy baseball equipment for the kids to use / collect gently used equipment to donate
- Luggage/shipping fees to transport both equipment and clothing
- Provide meals for the players
- Any additional surplus will be used for future campaigns

END OF 2018 UPDATE:
PWe are back from the Dominican Republic and have had an incredible time supporting the Aridio Garcia League in Altamira for their youth baseball tournament in December 2018.
This was the first campaign for Play Inspired and it surpassed all expectations. All 60 players were completely taken care of with new uniforms, registration paid for, league trophies, and we also collected & transported 7 boxes of new/gently used equipment for the kids to use.
Now, our mission turns to sustaining the Play Inspired project and being able to continue supporting leagues and tournaments in underprivileged areas of the Caribbean with equipment donation and financial help when possible.
This page will be regularly updated with new information about future campaigns and league partners as they come to fruition. Thank you to everyone who has already helped. We are more than grateful for all who are willing to continue contributing to and supporting Play Inspired.
1ST PROJECT:
I'm excited to announce the launch of Play Inspired - a project to support youth baseball & softball organizations in poverty-stricken areas in the Caribbean by sponsoring teams, collecting and transporting equipment, and making it more accessible for the youth to participate in the sport they love.
Thanks to the kickstart from the United Talent Agency Foundation's Live Inspired initiative, which offers employees the opportunity to apply for a one-week sabbatical and grant to pursue a personal passion, I am organizing my first Play Inspired campaign at the end of this year by sponsoring the Aridio Garcia League in Altamira, Dominican Republic.
Since 1998, the Aridio Garcia League has not only provided a system for the youth in rural northern Dominican Republic to play baseball competitively and perform in front of scouts, but also was an outlet to teach these children the values of honesty, respect, equality and loyalty.
I personally was fortunate enough to play in this league for two summers when I was 9 and 10 years old and am honored to have the opportunity to give back to the experience that shaped my life.
The biggest tournament for the Aridio Garcia League kicks off at the end of November, concluding right before Christmas, where 60 kids (ages 12 or below) across 4 teams compete for the Championship Title.
For this tournament, Play Inspired will be paying for every player's registration fee, uniform, and trophies.
Now, we are seeking additional donations to supplement our goal before I head to the Dominican Republic at the beginning of December to deliver equipment to the kids.
With the money received via this GoFundMe, we will be able to:
- Buy baseball equipment for the kids the use
- Luggage/shipping fees to transport both equipment and clothing
- Provide meals for the players
- Any additional surplus will be used for future campaigns
