Plant-Based Dogs

Tax deductible
Longtime vegan animal advocates Dr. Armaiti May, Dr. Sherstin Rosenberg and team have come up with a project driven budget that will require outside funding, to bring the goal of saving the  lives of thousands of  farmed animals every year, and it may serve as a model in the US as well as globally.

Currently, the plant-based diet for dogs is lacking in science, and without evidence the shelter veterinarians are opposed to it. The following are two essential items in need of funding.

1) A toxin analysis of several food brands that include both vegan and meat meal. The cost is approx. $25,000, and this would provide essential scientific evidence.

2) An ethically conducted experimental study that has two groups of dogs and provides evidence of the healthier choice in comparing a plant and meat meal-based diets (with an estimated budget of $100,000).  Please note: The participating dogs will not be subjected to invasive procedures and will be or already are cared for as companions in people's homes, not left to languish in cages.

Dr. Tonatiuh Melgarejo, Professor of Translational Medicine at an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine in  the United States will be performing a clinical trial, which will evaluate the health outcomes of dogs fed a plant-based diet as their only source of nutrition, as compared to those fed standard meat-based commercial diets.

WE NEED YOU to contribute any money you can!

We have received written support from Dr. Will Tuttle (World Peace Diet), Mercy for Animals, Farm Sanctuary, Veterinary Association for the Protection of Animals (VAPA), I Stand With My Pack (ISWMP), Factory Farming Awareness Coalition (FFAC), Vegan Outreach, In Defense of Animals (IDA), and Gentle Barn Foundation.

Furthermore, our Care2 Petition (available to sign via http://www.plantbased.dog/) has 71,826 signatures so far, and the support continues to grow. So, please also help us spread the word!

If we are able to fund the plant-based dog food study, it may have an extraordinary impact on saving animals and the environment!  Thank you for your compassion and support!
