Every 1 USD plants 2 trees and supports environmental education!
Hello,
We are currently volunteering in Watamu, Kenya, supporting COBEC (Community Based Environmental Conservation), a local environmental association working to restore mangroves and protect marine ecosystems in Mida Creek.
Mangroves are essential ecosystems. They protect the coastline from erosion, capture large amounts of CO₂, support biodiversity, and provide sustainable income opportunities for local communities.
Today, COBEC is leading an ambitious community-based project to plant 1 million trees and mangroves in the Mida Creek conservation area.
The impact is both environmental and social:
• Ecosystem restoration
• Climate action
• Sustainable livelihoods for local communities
• Environmental education for youth and adults
Mangrove ecosystem in Mida Creek, Kenya – vital for biodiversity and coastal protection.
Community-led tree and mangrove planting in the Mida Creek conservation area.
One of the most powerful aspects of this initiative is its accessibility and transparency:
- 0.50 USD = 1 tree planted
- 0.10 USD (20%) directly supports environmental education
- 50 USD = 100 trees
- 5,000 USD = restoration of approximately 1 hectare
This means every donation, even small, creates a measurable and long-term impact.

All funds will be used transparently to directly support COBEC’s tree planting, conservation activities, and education programs in Mida Creek
P.S. When you get to the point of donating set the "Voluntary Contribution to GoFundMe" to 0% otherwise the money goes to the website. :)
With gratitude,
