Contrary to the promise, Plan 2014 does not protect the Lake Ontario shoreline from extreme water levels, and it actually makes us less resilient to climate change. Plan 2014 policies and limits significantly increased both the scale and the duration of the Lake Ontario flooding in 2019, and the IJC's ongoing refusal to release more water and provide all possible relief to riparian owners will ensure another catastrophic flood year in 2020.
United Shoreline Ontario is dedicated to having Plan 2014 revoked or amended to better protect the interests of the municipalities, home owners, businesses and emergency responders on the shoreline. Shipping, hydro and environmental interests are well funded and represented, but those that actually suffer the financial, physical and emotional injury of Plan 2014 are not.
United Shoreline urgently needs your help to make sure our voices are heard and the truth is shared about Plan 2014. Your donation will help fund our ongoing advocacy to restore the safety and security to our Lake Ontario shoreline.
