PJ's Cancer Financial Aid Fund

So, I've seen these funding drives pop up here and there and have never ever thought I'd need to worry about doing something like this, but life has a funny way of reminding you that sometimes you need to ask for help.

Most of you know pieces and parts of my medical history.  In the recent past I've had a knee replaced, my lumbar spine fused, a heart attack requiring a heart cath ending with four stents to fix things, and most recently a quirky internal bleed requiring another heart cath with another stent bringing the total to five.  All of this has culminated in a cosmic exclamation point taking the form of prostate cancer.

The form of treatment we have chosen is called proton-beam therapy that will be done at MD Anderson's Proton Therapy Center  in Houston.  This regimen, though covered by insurance, requires going to Houston five days a week for eight weeks.  Thus, I will travel to Houston at the beginning of each week, attend treatment sessions, and come home at the end of the week.  This means that we will be on the hook for insurance co-pays; expenses such as transportation to and from Houston and around the city while I'm there; meals; and other incidentals that will come up while going through this process. Therefore, we are finding ourselves needing some financial assistance to help out.  Thankfully we have had a family graciously offer up a room in their house for me to stay in, while there but that only covers a fraction of the total costs.

We look to be starting treatment shortly after the first of the year so we hope to have things nailed down by then.  If you  are able to help out we appreciate it. If you can't its all good, but feel free to share this so we can boost the signal.  Not everyone has the available funds to pitch in every time one of these campaigns rolls around.
