Pixie the Dachshund

Pixie, the one-year-old Dachshund, belongs to my friend Samatha her partner Harry and their two young boys. Unfortunately, on 30th August this year, Pixie chewed on a piece of plastic which caused an internal bleed. Pixie was rushed to Davies Veterinary Clinic who managed to save her life. A week's stay at the vet and a blood transfusion later and she was able to return home to her family.

Unfortunately, once back home, Pixie's health took another turn and she had to be rushed back to the vet. Blood tests showed that she's suffering from anaemia and her body is failing to create its own red blood cells. She had to have another blood transfusion. Sadly Pixie is now on her 4th blood transfusion.

The vet has said that there is a good chance that Pixie's body, with the help of repeated blood transfusions, could eventually start producing red blood cells again but the Pet Insurance, which covered the first £7.5k of vet bills, is now long gone and the costs are rising. With a new mortgage and the rising cost of living a tipping point will come soon for this young family and a heartbreaking decision will have to be made.

Anyone who knows Sam knows she would help anyone, and knows what Pixie has meant to her family - particularly her boys.

Appealing to all Sam's friends and family and mine and all of the dog lovers out there. Please help if you can, let's give Pixie and her family a chance xx
